This is the first in a series of one-day meetings on the Mathematics of Cryptography at UC Irvine sponsored by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.

The first talk by each speaker will be at the level of a colloquium talk. In particular, Kristin Lauter's first talk (1:30-2:30) should be of interest to a general scientific audience.
