Conformally compact Einstein manifolds were first studied by
mathematicians around ten years ago. Recently they have appeared
in string theory as the mathematical framework for ADS/CFT 
correspondence. This has given the field new insights and stimuli.
In my talk I will present several new results on the geometry of
conformally compact Einstein manifolds.
