Add/Drop and Waitlist Policy
Enrollment Period and Term Weeks One and Two:
Use WebReg to add or to drop undergraduate Math classes and to change your grade option through the second week of instruction. You may waitlist classes in WebReg as well. Effective Fall 2009, A/D/C cards will not be used (meaning they will not be processed at the Registrar's Office) during the first two weeks of the quarter.
Be aware that in order to enroll in or to waitlist a class, the statuses of both the lecture and discussion must match. You will not, for example, be able to enroll in or waitlist a class if the lecture status is “Open” but the discussion status is “Waitlist.” If the statuses do not match, WebReg will not save your registration.
It is very important that you review the FAQ’s on the Waitlist System page on the Registrar’s website. STUDENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN REGISTRATION. The Department cannot assist you if you accidentally drop yourself from a full or waitlisted class; nor can they assist you in switching from one discussion section to another discussion section. This must be all done on-line through WebReg.
Note that seats may become available when course enrollment restrictions are lifted; check WebSOC for dates. Additional seats may become available during the Adjustment Period; see the Quarterly Academic Calendar on the Registrar’s website for important dates and continue to monitor WebSOC for changes. Students wishing to repeat courses to improve their grades will have low enrollment priority (see WebSOC for specific dates). Students who receive a C or above in a course are not eligible to repeat that course.
Instructors DO NOT sign ADC cards to add students to classes. Please DO NOT approach the Math Department to have your ADC card signed.
UCI ACCESS Students ONLY: Please click here for enrollment information.
Term Week Three:
After week two of the term, the Math Department will determine which additional students, if any, will be added into full classes. To be added to the class through this procedure, you must be on the WebReg waitlist and must attend all lectures through the end of Week 3. As space becomes available during Week 3, students who fulfill the above conditions will receive ADC cards from the Department, in the order of the waitlist. ADC cards for added students will be passed out in lecture. REMEMBER THAT NOT ALL STUDENTS WHO FULFILL THESE CONDITIONS WILL BE ADDED. Students must submit the cards to the Registrar’s Office. Students not enrolled in a section at the end of week three will not be eligible to attend that section and will not have their exams graded.
AFTER WEEK 3, NO MORE ADDS WILL BE APPROVED, EITHER BY THE DEPARTMENT OR BY THE INSTRUCTOR. THIS IS A STRICT RULE, AND EXCEPTIONS WILL NOT BE MADE. PLEASE DO NOT APPROACH YOUR INSTRUCTOR OR THE DEPARTMENT TO REQUEST TO ADD A FULL OR WAITLISTED CLASS.
DROPS:
To drop a class from week three through week six, an ADC card signed by the instructor for a drop must be submitted to the Registrar’s Office. Friday of week six is the last day to drop a class without the approval of your dean and without resulting in a “W” grade (withdrawal). For drops after week six, please consult your academic advising office.
THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT YOU WILL BE ADDED INTO A CLASS THROUGH THE WAITLIST. SPACES IN OUR LOWER DIVISION CLASSES FILL UP QUICKLY. PLEASE PLAN ACCORDINGLY.
**Note that forging instructor signatures on ADC cards is considered an act of academic dishonesty and will be dealt with accordingly.**
