CLASSROOM CONDUCT

Arrive on time and dismiss class on time - not early or late.  Never simply fail to show up.  In case of illness or emergency, it is your responsibility (not the Vice Chair's) to find a replacement instructor.  If there isn't time for this call, Lisa Rapp (x45502) to arrange to have your class dismissed. It is your responsibility that your classes are taught.  You need to make arrangements in advance for a teaching buddy to replace you.  Should it be unavoidable for you to miss one of your regularly scheduled final or midterm exams due to illness or other emergency, find a replacement to proctor your examination.  Shorter absences when classes are scheduled (e.g. to attend a conference for seven calendar days or less) must be approved by the Chair.  It is your responsibility to make arrangements for someone to cover your classes.  Your replacement should normally be another faculty member or lecturer.  In urgent or unusual circumstances you may ask your TA to take one lecture for you; keep in mind that the TA has responsibilities as a student as well as TA, and that you should, in return replace the TA in a Discussion.  (Please review the Graduate Section of this handbook, specifically

Teaching Assistantships and Financial Support.) All leaves of longer than 7 days should be requested in advance on the Leave of Absence Form accompanied by a letter of justification.  Approval by the Dean is required.
