Set Theory

 

 

 

 

 

1st Quarter

 

Cardinals, ordinals and their arithmetic.  Konig's theorem,  elementary ideas from PCF theory, the recursion theorem, absoluteness, Schoenfeld's theorem.

 

2nd Quarter

 

Basic combinatorics of Suslin and Aronszahn Lrees, Kurepa trees.  Diamond and Martin's

Axiom.  Partition theory and the Erdos-Rado theorem. The theory of Godel's Universe, FODO, Condensation. GCH and diamond in L. Elementar y concepts of fine structure.

 

3rd Quarter

 

Introduction to Forcing, independence of CH and GCH, Easton's theorem, basic iterated forcing
