The purpose of this course is to develop critical thinking and problem solving abilities by solving math problems given in different major math competitions. It will prepare students for the Putnam exam and other kinds of similar competitions.
The course will be taught by L. Katzarkov and will meet once a week:
Thues. from 6-7:20 p.m. at UCI in Rowland Hall 114.
The first meeting will be on January 11. It will continue for two quarters - each of them is worth two credit units and can be taken independently. The grade will be Pass/Fail. The homework is an essential part of the course and the participants will be asked to do presentations. The web page for this course can be found at the URL:
