I keep getting thrown off by changes in Open Road promotions, as my prompts for writing a newsletter. They told me earlier there would be two promotions today, for Dynasty of Death and for Pillar of Iron. I prepared for both. Still, if they intended both for today, I only got one. That got me to rethinking my review of a newsletter I sent last March, entitled
A Tale of Two Trilogies

I said then, among her 40 novels, one easily finds groupings of novels that suggest dynamic changes in her, and in the reception she received from publishers and her public.
The Armaments Family
  1. Dynasty of Death OR 11/15/16 1938 Charles Scribner Sons
  2. The Eagles Gather 1940 Charles Scribner Sons
  3. The Final Hour 1944 Charles Scribner Sons
At the time, I put the other trilogy under the title,
Diatribes on Evil

with a separation of essentially 20 years between these two those groupings. Despite the quality of the first trilogy, it is less remarked on these days, while the second – for obvious reasons having to do with two religions appearing in our national discourse – attracts vehement attention. Those two religions are Evangelical and Catholic. The vehemence with which they appear might lead you to equate their adherents.

Ah, but that would be a serious mistake if you care what the vehemence is about. Catholic is the Christian body to which TC declared her allegiance. Prolific as was TC, those 20 years represent many life changes.

The first trilogy features the Bouchard family. The designation OR indicates that Open Road does e-book promotions of them, but in that first trilogy, they chose only the first. The family review is here; the walk of fame plaque for TC in Buffalo, where she lived most of her life, based on that novel is here. Those three novels featured one stellar talent, TC's ability to intricately weave plots and characters in a many-decade saga. The first and 3rd also featured two great romances, replete with astonishing females and charismatic males.

I think it highly likely the other promotion I was expecting, Pillar of Iron, may come later today. If it does, I will continue this theme on TC trilogies, leading with that novel. It is timely to consider that trilogy: Arguably TC's most internationally famous novel would naturally be included in that trilogy. Yet, for awkward reasons – the family only received rights for these novels back a few years ago; Peggy threw them away before her children had any idea of what was at stake – it only came to me recently how much the world knows TC from that trilogy.

I return to today's (first) promotion and the progress of TC during the writing of that trilogy. The Bouchards at first are war-mongers who become wealthy by selling guns, cannons and ammunition to BOTH sides of the Civil War.   They help create and perpetuate the Civil War (and others) so they could financially profit from both sides fighting each other!
