  • Congratulations to iCAMP student, math major, Bohyun (Brianna) Kim for starting graduate school at UCLA with a Cota Robles fellowship in the Fall of 2016 ! She was also accepted by Brown, University of Michigan, University of Texas at Austin, and UCSD.

  • Dr. Ernie Esser passed away on Sunday March 8, 2015, at a hospital in Reykjavik, Iceland, of complications from flu and pneumonia, which he suffered on a flight home from Europe where he attended a conference. Ernie was a beloved member of iCAMP. He advised many students, and contributed significantly to iCAMP. He will be sorely missed by all of us. If you have good memories of Ernie to share, please write and email to icamp@math.uci.edu, for posting on an iCAMP memorial page in honor of Ernie. If you publish a scientific paper, please consider to dedicate it to him, and email a copy to icamp.
  • Joseph Geumlek, iCAMP student, Mathematics and Computer Science double major, won the Howard Tucker Award and the Outstanding Senior Award of the Mathematics Department of UCI on May 29, 2014. In June, Joseph graduated Summa Cum Laude as a member of Phi Beta Kappa, with Campuswide Honors and Math Honors, and as a nominee of Pi Mu Epsilon Honor Society. In the Fall of 2014, Joseph becomes a graduate student in the PhD program of the Computer Science Department at UC San Diego, joining the machine learning group there.

    • Igii Enverga, Taylor Rogers, Jonathan Stroud and Brian Song gave an oral presentation titled "Ensemble Learning and the Heritage Health Prize."
    • Melody Lim presented a poster on "Feature Identification for Colon Tumor Spheroid Classification."
    • Michael Vorobyov gave an oral presentation titled "Application of Bayesian Networks to Texas Hold'em Poker" about his honors thesis work for which he won the 2013 Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Research from the school of Information and Computer Science.

    Naomi Carrillo and Everardo Uribe presented research posters on November 9th, 2012 at ICERM in Providence, RI. Naomi presented her combinatorial analysis of the "Princess and the Roses" game. Everardo presented his work on blind deconvolution of corrupted barcode signals.

    Anthony Hou, Melody Lim, Janine Chua and Natalie Congdon will present their summer research on feature identification for colon tumor classification. All will present a poster, and Anthony will give a 30 minute talk representing the group.
