Syllabus

In Math 226 C, we shall focus on advanced numerical methods for several applications: Stokes and Navier-Stokes equation, linear elasticity, convection-dominated convection diffusion equation, mesh generation and optimization, and spectral methods.

Project and Homework

• Project 1: Finite Element for Stokes Equation; Due date: Apr 27.
• Project 2: Methods for Convection-Dominated problem; Due date: May 18
• Project 3: Locking-free element for plane linear elasticity; Due date: May 31

Grading

Your course grade will be determined by your cumulative average at the end of the term:

• 40% Homework
• 40% Matlab projects
• 20% Final Exam/Project
