- Annotating any file using Zoom -- by Chris Davis
- Here is a video with instructions for how to do this using Zoom. Chris recorded a basic way to do this. A more advanced way would be to choose the specific application to record from the “Share” screen. What Chris did was to record everything on the computer screen.
- You may have to manually enable “Annotation”: Go to https://uci.zoom.us/profile/setting then in Meeting (Basic) and then scroll down to “Annotation”. See screenshot.
- Comment: I (Chris) tried Tuesday morning to record a Zoom file from my phone to the cloud. That was at 9:30am on Tuesday, and it was not ready until Wednesday evening. I don’t know if this is a one-time error, or an error on my end, or a sign that Zoom takes a long time to process cloud recordings.

- Uses an inexpensive phone tripod which can be found at here. Chris’s set-up is not optimal because the writing appears at an angle.

- Virtual office hours without a tablet
-- by Chris Davis
- Pros: No tablet required. In the video I say you need a webcam, but even that is only required if you want the students to see your face.
- Cons: It does require a computer (so you can read student questions, a phone, and some kind of phone holder.

- The point of these videos is to demonstrate what the end result looks like when recorded with different software.
- iPad + Zoom, I believe this was recorded before I had the “pro” version, but I’ve tried again and the resolution seems similar. If the students are intended to read the pdf, then probably it should be zoomed in some.
