Date and Location

The 23rd SCGAS will be held at the University of California Irvine on Saturday, January 30, 2016 and Sunday, January 31, 2016.

Graduate students, recent Ph.D.'s and under-represented minorities are especially encouraged to participate and apply for travel support.

This year, there will also be a related winter school at UC Irvine right before the SCGAS conference.

Registration and Social Events

Conference participants are requested to register in advance using the online registration form.


The registration fee is $15, payable (cash only) at the conference during the morning registration hour on Saturday, January 30th. As part of the registration fee, lunch will be provided for participants on Saturday, January 30th, at the Phoenix Food Court on the UC Irvine campus.


There will be a banquet dinner at the Capital Seafood Restaurant in Irvine Spectrum on Saturday, January 30, 2016. The cost is $45 (cash only) to be paid on Saturday morning at the conference.  

Conference Support

The SCGAS conference is supported by a grant from the National Science Foundation.

The NSF funds provide support for the travel and conference expenses of participants with priority given to graduate students, recent Ph.D's and under-represented minorities. If you would like to apply for support, please register and request financial support using the online registration form before January 1, 2016.
