Textbook: Linear Algebra by Fraleigh Beauregard (3rd edition)

Homework:
Homework will not be collected, but you are supposed to do them all. REMEMBER: the more problems you do, the better you understand the material. Students are encouraged to work together on homework sets. There will be approximately one quiz per week in the discussion session on Thursday. There are two to four short questions in one quiz. The quiz problems will be either the same as, or very similar to those from the homework. Thus, if a student has made a good attempt at the homework, he/she should do well on the quiz. Two lowest quiz grades will be dropped from the final grade calculation.

Exams: There will be one midterm exam and a comprehensive final exam.
Midterm: Wednesday, May 2, 11:00 am - 11:50 am
Final exam: Tuesday, June 12, 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm

The exams are "closed book" – no books, no notes, no graphing calculators, no labtop comptuer or equivalent technology, etc. You may use the scientific calculator. Picture I.D. is required and must be presented upon request. There are no early exams. A late exam is only possible for a legitimate documented reason. If approved, the maximum possible score on a late exam is a 70. Note that student athletes, participating in a UCI athletic event and with appropriate documentation, are exempt from this rule. You must take your exams with the lecture for which you are registered.

Academic Dishonesty: Cheating in any form is never allowed. If a student is caught cheating, I will follow the guidelines as set forth in the UCI Academic Senate Policy on Academic Dishonesty, which includes receiving a zero on the work in question.
