Description:
Dr. Qi's early research work was focused on speech analysis, synthesis, and perception. As a faculty member of the department of Speech and Hearing Sciences of University of Arizona, he pioneered the work on the enhancement of alaryngeal speech via speech synthesis. He also contributed significantly to the analysis of abnormal voices. He was awarded several research grants during his tenure at the University of Arizona (89-99).
