George Papanicolaou

George Papanicolaou is currently the Robert Grimmett Professor of Mathematics at Stanford University. He is a member of the US National Academy of Sciences and a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He was the SIAM von Neumann Prize winner in 2006, invited plenary speaker of the International Congress of Mathematicians in 1998, John Simon Guggenheim Fellow in 1983, and Sloan fellow in 1974. His area of research is in wave propagation in random media, stochastic phenomena, and applications in wireless communication, geosciences and finance.
