Charles Newman
Professor of Mathematics
Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences
New York University

Professor Charles Newman is a Professor of Mathematics and former Director of the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at New York University. His research interests are in probability theory, statistical physics and stochastic models, and he has published over 160 papers since 1972. He received the Sloan Fellowship in 1978 and the Guggenheim Fellowship in 1984. He was elected a Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences in 2004, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2006, and the Brazilian Academy of Sciences in 2008.
