About Professor Okounkov
Andrei Okounkov is a Professor of Mathematics at Columbia University. He received his PhD from Moscow State University in 1995. He has previously held faculty positions at Princeton and UC Berkeley. He received a Sloan Fellowship in 2000 and a Packard Fellowship in 2001. In 2004, he received the European Mathematical Society Prize. He was an invited speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians in 2006 and was awarded the Fields Medal for his contributions to bridging probability,representation theory and algebraic geometry
