JumpStart is a hybrid program consisting of online (approx. 5 weeks) and on-campus portions (two weeks). The online courses will essentially consist of the material covered in the MATH 205 (Analysis) and MATH 230 (Algebra) sequences, which will not be for credit or units.
The courses are meant to bring newly admitted students up to speed with the expectations of the program by refreshing important undergraduate material and introducing some new material. The courses will run 08/03-08/31/2025 and will be complemented by two intensive problem-solving weeks on campus, scheduled 09/02 - 09/11/25 and concluded with the comprehensive exam in analysis, and the option to take the qualifying exams. The Analysis section will take place in RH 306 from 10am-12pm (every day) and the Algebra section will take place in RH 306 (same room) from 2pm-4pm (every day). The comprehensive exam (taking place September 12th) will inform a recommendation as to what courses to take for the first year in the program.
Active participation in the Jumpstart program is strongly recommended. Taking the assessment exam Sept. 12 is mandatory.
